Issues
Technology
Technology has fundamentally changed how the world operates in the 21st century. We need to empower students by making technology work for them and bring new forms of learning to the modern classroom.
School and the Careers After
As a city we do not work with students enough to get them prepared for college or a career after high school. We should make the reality of college a vision for everyone, but for students who would like to stop their education at high school, we should give them the opportunity to develop skills for a job.
Bullying
It is unacceptable for children to be bullied in a modern school. Instead of working to put students down, students should be building each other up. I support a strong adoption of anti-bullying culture in schools that promote student well-being.
Budgeting
A classroom cannot exist without funds. We need to approve common sense budgets that empower teachers to help their students. With that being said, I am also in support of efficiency. Programs that waste spending instead of helping students should be cut and not approved in the first place.
Meals
Childhood poverty is at an all time high. School should be a place where every student gets a nutritious meal. I am in support of programs promoting Free and Reduced Lunches and Breakfasts for Students.
After School Tutoring
Not all students learn the same way. Many students learn better in a one on one setting. I support a volunteer recruiting program where students can teach each other in after school programs. This is how we can transform a community of students into one that helps itself grow.
